Sneakers have always been a huge part of my family’s culture. I have these pink Nike that was my baby shoes, and every time I look at them I see a connection to my dad and big brother, not just something material.
The Swarovski crystals!!! (Ex. the Cactus Plant Flea Market dunks.) I have one pair of the Swarovski Air Max, but what I really want are the new crystal studded womens forces! As a pageant girl, I’ve always been obsessed with bling, especially Swarovski. Unfortunately, when I completely lost it when I found out they had multiple collabs with Nike.
Powerful! For every pair of shoes there’s a new story, and knowing my ancestors created what is now sneaker culture makes me want to add a thousand new pages on top of their empire. Also - deadstock shoe smell is just *chefs kiss*
Some of my favorite creators are Virgil Abloh (R.I.P.), for his work with Off-White, Telfar Clemens, and Dapper Dan. Telfar speaks for itself, and Dapper Dan literally birthed logomania clothing and modern-day street wear.
I think Nike would really do numbers with a Telfar collaboration. It’s a Black-owned brand and is gaining popularity like CRAZY, their bags sell out in minutes. It would be cool to see an activewear line with some shoes, and maybe a tote or duffle bag to finish it off!
My current favorites are my Animal Instinct 11, Mocha 1 & surprisingly Green Glow Dunks! I’ve been wearing the first two for the wintery vibes, but mint green is my favorite color- I haven’t put those shoes down since I bought them!
Definitely a good sized purse, my glitter pepper spray- better safe than sorry- and my baby kitty Doja!
