Growing up, my older brother was hugely into sneakers, with a great collection, and very involved in the Melbourne sneaker scene.
As a result, I gained firsthand insight into the world of sneakers – he got me going to camp-outs, entering raffles for him and eventually I started buying my pairs too! I'd have to say, the pair that triggered my love for sneakers would probably be my brother's Nike Air Mags, a rare and elusive pair that I still can't believe I've been able to put my own feet in!
Depending on your perspective, what I'm going to say next may or may not be controversial – not really a moment/trend, but I love that sneaker culture has opened up to more and more people. Social media has had a big part to play in that (for better or for worse!), but it's so good to see more and more people expressing themselves through their sneakers!
However, if I really do have to pick a trend, I'd say that I'm loving dip-dyes on the custom front right now! A dope one I came across recently is these dyed 990v3s.
When I buy a pair of sneakers there's a particular reason that they've made it into my collection! It could be that it's a silhouette I collect, that the pair a bring whole different energy to what I've already got, and so on. So in that regard, it always feels like a missing piece of the puzzle has fallen into place!
Um... where do I start? First of all, I love that this question is giving major material girl energy because I'm so here for that. But to answer the question, a brand I've been loving is Kapital! And I always seem to be gravitating towards Incu Collection for wardrobe staples.
On the vintage front, I love vintage cat tees sourced from overseas or even Depop. Moving down to lower price points, I love thrifting clothes and vintage tees and pairing them up with more of my luxury items whether that's jewelry or Y2K LV and Prada bags. In a nutshell, you can think of my aesthetic as Carrie Bradshaw meets Elaine Benes – of course, with sneakers!
One for the honeys: Finesse Store x ASICS GEL-Kayano 14!!!!!!
Right now I'm obsessed with what New Balance and ASICS are doing, all of these brought back into the fold with new colorways. From New Balance, Teddy Santis' Made in USA collaboration has been hitting the mark, my favorites have been the Grey 990v3s and I'm still yet to unbox my 'Sea Salt' 990v3s, they're just so crisp!
From ASICS side, I'm obsessed with the FN3-S GEL-KAYANO 28 in the sweet dreams colorway! From the Swoosh, the Nike ACG Air Mada has also become a big part of my rotation – they are hella cute to me.
Overall though, my Grey 992s are without a doubt my biggest rotation mainstay!
