Ben Whalley @bw._.creative is a Bristish sneaker photographer who drawn into sneakers since Adidas Superstar 35 th Anniversary. He's a big fan of Ronnie Fieg and Hikmet because they always bring unique colourways.

What was the moment you first got drawn to sneakers, and which pair of sneakers triggered your passion?

The first moment that got me into sneakers was the Adidas Superstar 35th Anniversary. Being a half Asian and living in Indonesia at the time, the 35th Anniversary was a big thing growing up. So, the whole series brought me to collect them.

What’s one moment or trend in the history of sneaker culture that resonates with you?

I think Run DMC wearing their Adidas Superstar without laces is iconic.

Please describe how it feels to you when you get and wear a new pair of kicks?

It's like my birthday and Christmas put into one day. Nothing can beat the excitement of receiving a new pair, especially the fresh smell of leather and suede when you open the box. People also cannot help but check your feet because you are wearing a new pair of sneakers.

What are some of your favorite creators/designers or brands and why?

Ronnie Fieg and Hikmet are up there for me because of their amazing collaboration with other brands, bringing out unique colorways. Meanwhile, my top brands would be Mizuno, Asics, New Balance, and Diadora.

What is one sneaker collaboration that doesn’t exist, but you wish/think should exist?

I would love to see Carhartt x Asics and Carhartt x Mizuno.

What are some of the current pairs of sneakers in your rotation?

I have been wearing a lot of Mizuno - my go-to brand since they brought back the sports style. I also love the NB 991 Stray Rats and the SNS 991.

What is your ultimate holy grail sneaker that you have not managed to acquire so far?

My holy grail pair would be Diadora Correfocs and Diadora Castellers. These are both of the best pairs made in Italy, with fantastic craftsmanship and top-quality materials.

Other than kicks, what are some of your daily essentials or treasured items?

The sock game has to be up there to color match with the sneakers. My earbuds are another essential part of me as I can't go anywhere without any music. My camera is always by my side also.

Where can people find you on social media?
