Obsessed with the Step-Up franchise makes Britt @brittanyjacintogarcia fall in love with sneakers, especially after she saw a pair of Nike Dunk Gunmetal. Yoon Anh is one of her big inspirations to make an impact in the fashion world!

What was the moment you first got drawn to sneakers, and which pair of sneakers triggered your passion?

This was a moment that I remember so well!! I started dancing at four and was obsessed with the Step-Up franchise.

When I was eight, Step Up 3 came out, and I saw a pair of Nike Dunk Gunmetal sneakers. I saw how one of the characters romanticized the sneakers, and I'm pretty sure that's where I get my love of shoes from.

I know my dad was always obsessed with Jordans and everything, but I never really understood the hype until I saw Step Up 3.

What’s one moment or trend in the history of sneaker culture that resonates with you?

Wow, this is such a tough question. There's not a specific moment that resonates with me, but I remember the first time I heard about the Ambush x Nike collaboration - honestly, it was life-changing because it changed how I saw sneakers.

Seeing the silhouettes of the Ambush Nike Dunks for real made me change my whole wardrobe. I loved Yoon's entire collection, and the fact that she was a female Asian designer gives me hope that I can impact the fashion scene too someday!

Please describe how it feels to you when you get and wear a new pair of kicks?

I'm a storyteller, so the shoes I buy tell my life's story. I always buy shoes that make me feel something or remind me of a certain checkpoint I overcame. So as you can tell, I get excited when I cop kicks.

The funny thing is that when I buy shoes, my first instinct is to just wear them. I purchased the Jordan 6 UNCs and instantly wore them to a dance class. Yeah, I'm that person. Sue me; shoes are meant to be worn. It's like buying a Lamborghini and not driving it around. Shoes are just cars for your feet. Try and tell me otherwise.

But yeah, wearing the kicks is really something else - I'm more confident. And it just gives me a rush because shoes are how I express myself.

What are some of your favorite creators/designers or brands and why?

Virgil Abloh, Ye, Yoon Ambush, Melody Eshani, and Aleali May are some of my favorite designers and brands.

They all push the sneaker standards and make it their own. Each of the sneakers that they make tells a story.

What is one sneaker collaboration that doesn’t exist, but you wish/think should exist?

I'm going to sound so cocky when I say, Nike and Ciel. Ciel is my creative agency/record label. I can imagine it. The company's color is blue, so I'm just imagining a lot of blue and collaborating with many different creatives associated with Ciel.

I'm in the fashion, music, skate, and basketball world- so it would be really fun to tell different stories in different shoes. It would be designed for people to tell their stories.

What are some of the current pairs of sneakers in your rotation?

This is a tough one. My favorite pair of sneakers in the rotation is Jordan 12 Jubilees.

However, I own eight pairs of blue sneakers (just because it's my color). So I'm going to go with my Jordan 6 UNCs.

What is your ultimate holy grail sneaker that you have not managed to acquire so far?

Man, I need a pair of Jordan 4 Motorsports. Jordan 4s have been so nostalgic for me as I would always watch NBA games and see these on players' feet. I was, and I still am, obsessed with this silhouette.

Other than kicks, what are some of your daily essentials or treasured items?

My journal, camera, basketball, skateboard, MacBook, and headphones are essentials. I cannot leave my house without any of these items.
