Like most millennials, my love affair with sneakers started with a pair of unassuming Converse. Back in the 2000s, they were the must-haves. You couldn't go anywhere without spotting one!
That moment was probably when Frank Ocean wore a Vans slip-on to the White House. He subverted the black tie affair in a refreshing and iconic way.
Sometimes, a new pair of kicks is all you need to step away from your comfort zone. Exploring new and different ways to build your outfit from the sneakers up is always interesting.
On top of my head are Demna Gvasalia, Martin Margiela, Rei Kawakubo, and Junya Watanabe. I really like the idea of deconstructed fashion, counter-culture, and subversion of design that challenge our preconceived notions of what high fashion should be.
I'm curious to see the Margiela spin on a pair of humble Crocs.
Vans Authentic and Checkerboard slip-on, New Balance 574, Asics Gel-Kayano, and Crocs are some of the pairs in my current rotation.
I dream of purchasing Margiela Fusion sneakers - it is so weird and otherworldly.
My Comme des Garcons tote bag is practical and goes well with everything.
