November 16, 2022

The Chicago-based artist's first collab with A Bathing Ape.

You might have seen his work on Astro Boy, Bart Simpson, and even Bugs Bunny, but for the first time ever, Louis De Guzman is lending his artistic eye to A Bathing Ape for the Louis De Guzman x BAPE Roadsta. Marking their first ever collaboration, this sneaker blurs the fine line between a piece of footwear and a piece of art, so make sure you read on to find out everything that we know so far.

Crafted from a luxe combination of leather and suede, De Guzman's take on the legendary Roadsta is painted in a clean gray and white color scheme. Perforations on the toebox bear a striking resemblance to the Air Force 1 or Dunk, and this inspiration is exemplified by the Nike Air-like bubble around the heel. Of course, you can't talk about this collab without mentioning the Shooting Star logo across the sidewalls. While this is usually left blank, the Filipino creative has reworked it with his world-famous geometric aesthetic. This graphic extends towards the bold blue heel, and inside the shoe, he has scrawled his signature on the insoles like an artist signing off his work.

Dropping on November 19th, the Louis De Guzman x BAPE Roadsta "Grey" should definitely not be missed. Let us know what you think of this sneaker, and in related news, BAPE and adidas recently reunited for the Superstar "Black"!
