Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the original collection.

If you ask any old school sneakerhead what the most iconic early-'00s sneaker collection was, there's a huge chance that they'd bring up Nike's "Shima Shima" Pack. Introduced back in 2003, the three-shoe range paid homage to Japanese culture and is still massively valuable even after all this time, and with its 20th anniversary coming up just around the corner, the American sportswear company is set to launch an all-new "Shima Shima" collection, kicking it all off with the Nike Air Max 1 "Shima Shima."

While the first pack also featured an Air Max 1, this iteration features an all-new design that's takes subtle cues from the '03 pair. Featuring a crisp white mesh base, gray leather panels wrap around the upper while earthy brown suede also outfits the sneaker as a nod to the OG. Pinstripe detailing takes over the sockliner and tongue, and speaking of which, this is crafted from a sustainable hemp material that's getting increasingly popular these days.

This is stitched with kanji in red, paying tribute to the collection's Japanese roots, and all of this sits on top of a creamy Air midsole which gives the shoe a vintage vibe, finalizing the design.

Not much else is known about 2023's Nike Air Max 1 "Shima Shima" at this moment in time, but it's expected to release over the next few months. Keep it locked at Ox Street's dedicated Air Max page for your best chance to cop, and while you're here, you might as well check out the next sacai x Nike collaboration right here!
