If you thought Off-White x Nike sneakers were rare, wait until you hear about the Off-White x Futura x Nike Dunk Low. First teased by Virgil Abloh all the way back in Paris Fashion Week 2019, they're a three-way collaboration with world-renowned graffiti artist Leonard "Futura" McGurr. While these have never received a public release, Sotheby's is now giving some lucky sneakerheads the chance to secure a pair through an exclusive auction.
Coming in orange and blue color combinations, both Dunks work on top of an artistic base and are decorated with the initials "FL" around the back, which stands for Futura Laboratories. Two sets of laces make their way across each of the pairs, and you'll find plenty of deconstructed elements too, including Helvetic text, zip-ties, and haphazard stitching.
"The ‘Virgil Abloh" x Futura Laboratories' Dunks were so special to Virgil, not only for their role as an anchor piece of the SS20 collection, but as a symbol of collaboration and creativity, two principles he always prioritized," explains Shannon Abloh, the wife of the late and great icon. "The Dunks represent Virgil’s unique lens on art and culture, and this auction with Sotheby’s further aids in keeping his legacy alive."
Only eight pairs of the Off-White x Futura x Nike Dunk Low will be available, and you can start bidding from April 5th all the way to April 14th in the online auction. Let us know if you'll be trying your luck, and in related news, the CLOT x fragment design x Nike Dunk Low is coming soon.
