When I was in fifth grade, I tried out for the basketball team, and the very first pair I got was the 2001 Air Jordan 11 lows in white and silver. The pair is worn down, but I still have those shoes today.
My second pair was the Jordan 1 Patent Leather University Blue, which triggered my love for sneakers. It was so easy to get shoes back in the day, and I remember being able to pay in advance to pick them up on Saturdays. It's just in time to rock them at school the following Monday. Since then, sneakers have become my guilty pleasure.
From experience, I think fashion and design history play a big part in collecting kicks. While sneakers can be styled very versatile, it’s geared toward streetwear which I love.
I will usually empty my closet and find all the outfits I can wear to match them right away. Haha. It also feels amazing when I score on sneakers once on a blue moon.
Chanel and Hermes have always been my favorite brands. I love how you can dress up and down accessories. They will always remain a classic to me.
Salehe Bembury X Nike would be a great collab. I love their work.
My top 3 most worn kicks are the Nike Michigan State, Mochas, and two-tone Gray dunks.
Those are the Jordan Off-White 4s and TS1. I had them at one point, but my house got broken into, and I couldn’t get myself to rebuy them - the reselling price is so high.
I’m into bags and stylish outfits.
