I was born in the UK and moved to Australia at age 5; then, at 6, we moved from NSW up to QLD - this is where my sneaker obsession started to take hold. Once in QLD, my elder brother and I started playing basketball - the only problem with this is he got all the sneakers, and I got the supermarket copies.
I remember falling in love with the Reebok Kamikaze/Fila Grant hill 2s/Jordan 11s and the Air more Uptempo in the mid-90s… Just watching all the older guys rocking these kicks on the court and loving them. I moved away from basketball and took up skateboarding in my teenage years - my love for sneakers continued in this to Koston Es/Muska Circa’s/ Osiris D3s and Chet 4 Globes, some of my best memories on my feet.
As I grew up, I always loved sneakers but was never able to obtain them…. A few years back, I started picking up more sneakers - Jordan/Nike/Lebron/ Reebok/Li-Ning/Under Armour - you name it. If I like it, I’ll rock it.
In the past two years, sneaker photography has grown as a passion for me, and in 2018 my Instagram account @Sckicks5 came about, and my passion for the love of sneakers has grown every day since. For me now, it’s family - I have a wife and two young children, so they keep me on my toes - I take my sneaker shots when we are out on a family walk or down the local shopping center. I work simultaneously as a shift worker, so I have to make every opportunity count.
At the moment - I’m a sucker for my concord 11s, but my Bel Air 5s and all my Kamikazes would be close behind this pair…. I do, however, have the Lebron South Beach 8s on the way so that they may take the cake.
It’s their aesthetics; I love the design and the way they look on foot - I’m all about sneakers being worn and the feeling you get from putting on a fresh pair.
My quote when it comes to sneakers is, “For the love of sneakers and not for the approval of others” - For me, it’s about making yourself feel the best you can in a fresh pair that you love - buy sneakers you like not what’s on-trend or what others like.
At the moment, it’s a pair of the “Remember the Alamo” Reebok Kamikaze 2 - I love the design of these sneakers, and anything with a colorful pop is a winner for me!!
I’m pretty casual and like it keeps it pretty simple. At the moment, I wear denim shorts most of the year with a plain tee to match my sneakers. I was always an ankle sock guy, but if it is late, I have been throwing a few more sock designs into my style when preparing an outfit.
I’m on Instagram @sckicks5; this is the only platform I use to share my love of sneakers through my photography. All sneakers on the page are my own, and all photos are taken by myself.
