From really early on, I remember being interested in sneakers and fashion. When I was younger, I used to skate, so naturally, sneakers were a part of that. Around 2011 and 2012, I began to take a deeper interest in sneakers, and the passion really started with Dunk SB’s. It’s funny how the dunks are again the hype sneaker ten years later.
Having collected sneakers for an extended time, watching trends and micro trends development is always interesting. Recently, dunks have been massive. I remember the previous peak of dunks and the number of pairs that were so readily available—after the peak, now going for stupid money. I sometimes scroll Stock X, mind blown at the prices for some pairs I owned. It's always interesting to see the development of sneakers finding love in the sneaker community and then eventually blowing up with the general population.
I often end up buying a lot of my pairs online before seeing them in person, so its always exciting to get them in hand for the first time. To see and feel the quality of the materials, small details you didn't notice in pictures, and how they look and feel on foot. Sometimes you find pairs that fit your foot perfectly, and then other times, a shoe you love the look of just doesn't fit right.
New Balance has always been my choice, and the M1300 is my all-time favorite pair. Later reproduced as the M1300J line, perfect New Balance. As a brand, they enjoy their time in the sun, which is great for them; Joe and the global team have done excellent collaborative partnerships and put out great products. Along with NB, there is a long list of brands I like scrolling through my Instagram and looking at. The stuff I wear is the stuff I like.
Great question, that’s a hard one! There have been some great collaborations and massive amounts of them. I would love to have my own My Wife & Kicks x New Balance collab. Haha!
There was a space of time when all I was focused on was the New Balance 1300, and I didn't buy much else, trying to hunt down every pair. While I still love NB1300, my rotation has been more varied lately. I've got around 15 pairs sitting at the bottom of my wardrobe, with the rest in the boxes. The main pairs that get a lot of wear are 1300JP2, 990v2, and 990v1 in gray, Chuck 70 lows in black, Salomon XT Wings 2, Asics Gel Venture 7, 993's in gray, Todd Snyder 327's and Yeezy 700 MNVN. I've got some 550s in yellow too, but I've let them sit a bit with all the hype around them. I prefer not to wear stuff everyone else is wearing.
The NB M1300 is my favorite shoe, so I'd say some of the earlier pairs I haven't yet got my hands on. The original from 1985, 1995, and 2010 M1300JP.
Three things I’d say - my iPhone, iPad Pro 11” and Fujifilm X-E4. I really like having the ability to have such a small and compact selection of items that pack so much power when it comes to content creation. My favorite thing to do on a day off is to get out and create. These make it easy to do it on the go or in a cafe.
