What was the moment you first got drawn to sneakers, and which pair of sneakers triggered your passion?

My first experience with sneakers was when I started skateboarding around the age of 14. It fascinated me how different types, shapes and brands of shoes could affect the way the skateboard felt under my feet. However, it wasn't until later on, at the age of 18, that my true passion for sneakers began.

I've always liked minimalistic and simple aesthetics, so when I saw pictures of the Nike Air Jordan 1 High 'Yin Yang White', I immediately fell in love with the simplicity of the sneaker's design. I would say that that's where my true passion for sneakers and streetwear began.

What’s one moment or trend in the history of sneaker culture that resonates with you?

A recent but extremely sad moment within sneaker culture that really made me feel something was the recent passing of Virgil Abloh. Although I never had the honour of meeting him, when I heard the news I truly felt like I had lost a friend or family member. He inspired so, so many of us within sneaker culture and made everyone's dreams seem a little more achievable. His influence on the culture as a whole is legendary and will not soon be forgotten.

Please describe how it feels to you when you get and wear a new pair of kicks?

I think we can all agree that there's nothing quite like wearing a new pair of sneakers. You feel like a million bucks and like you could take on the world!

What are some of your favorite creators/designers or brands and why?

I'm a huge fan of Bad Bunny and have followed his music career avidly while growing up. I love the collaborations he's been doing with Adidas lately, especially his Forum Lows which I think take the design of the iconic sneaker to the next level!

Although this isn't a specific brand, I am also passionate about anything vintage. Personally, I believe that now more than ever it is important to stay in a circular fashion cycle rather than buying into fast fashion. Brands that are starting to use recycled materials in some of their clothing, such as Nike and Adidas, are also helping to push this notion.

What is one sneaker collaboration that doesn’t exist, but you wish/think should exist?

I'd love to see a collaboration between Nike and the Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny.

What are some of the current pairs of sneakers in your rotation?

Continuing with the minimalistic theme that I mentioned before, the most worn pair in my rotation is the Nike Dunk Low 'Panda'. Due to the sneaker's simple black and white colour blocking, it goes with virtually any outfit.

If I want to add some colour to my outfits, I tend to gravitate towards my pair of Nike Dunk High 'Coast/Midnight Navy' which actually released in 2004, making them the oldest sneaker in my collection. To keep my rotation balanced, I can't go without mentioning a pair of Adidas sneakers too. The pair I wear most are the Adidas Forum Low 'Halo Green'.

What is your ultimate holy grail sneaker that you have not managed to acquire so far?

The next sneaker that I'm working towards getting is a pair of Nike Air Jordan 1 'Rookie of the Year'. Having said that, my ultimate grail would be the Nike x Luis Vuitton Air Force 1 'Monogram Brown' designed by the late Virgil Abloh.

Other than kicks, what are some of your daily essentials or treasured items?

As well as my footwear, I'd say that everything else in my wardrobe is super important to me. A good outfit doesn't just include a pair of fire kicks, it also needs all the other elements to make it cohesive. That includes details such as clothing, jewellery, hats, bags, other accessories and even something as simple as a good fragrance.
