Filipino Sneakerhead and Influencer Couple: JP Arrieta and Alvin Liwanag

What was the moment you first got drawn to sneakers, and which pair of sneakers triggered your passion?

Last 2019, we decided to focus on creating more fashion content, and from there, we realized how sneakers elevate a certain look. The pair of sneakers that triggered our passion is the Balenciaga Triple S, during the rise of chunky sneakers. Although we never had a pair of Balenciaga Triple S, we actually started collecting with Balenciaga Track.

What’s one moment or trend in the history of sneaker culture that resonates with you?

It's definitely the era of chunky sneakers. It really resonates with our style as we always want to have something extra in our outfits. The unique appearance of chunky sneakers is eye-catching and initiates conversation whenever we meet an online friend.

Please describe how it feels to you when you get and wear a new pair of kicks?

Whenever we wear a new pair of kicks, we feel like we're a new person. We are fueled to create more content and build an outfit that will suit our new pair of kicks. We always feel we need to work hard after getting a new pair of kicks to justify our purchase.

‍What are some of your favorite creators/designers or brands and why?

Magnus Ronning of Ronning UK because we love the minimal streetwear designs he created for his brand. He also inspired us to build our clothing brand during the pandemic.

As for the brand, Balenciaga always has a place in our hearts. We always look forward to their new collection and how they elevate mundane things. They are very edgy and always forecasting the future through their designs which we really love.

What is one sneaker collaboration that doesn’t exist, but you wish/think should exist?‍

We would like to see a Kanye West x Converse collaboration. We love the creativity of Kanye West, and it's always accessible to get a pair of Converse. We are hoping to see a high-end collaboration yet accessible to everyone.

‍What are some of the current pairs of sneakers in your rotation?‍

As we always go out to create content, we are currently using six sneakers: Converse Run Star Motion, Balenciaga Track Sneakers, Prada Cloudbust Thunder, Naked Wolfe Sneakers, Naked Wolfe Loafers, and Dr. Martens Jadon Platform Boots.

‍What is your ultimate holy grail sneaker that you have not managed to acquire so far?

We are hoping to get our hands on the Balenciaga Runners. It's actually our daily motivation to work hard and produce more content, LOL.

‍Other than kicks, what are some of your daily essentials or treasured items?‍

You know it's us when you see two guys wearing the same varsity jackets, so definitely it's our jackets, HAHA. We also love our mini bags.
