Italian Sneaker Photographer: Riccardo Massut

What was the moment you first got drawn to sneakers, and which pair of sneakers triggered your passion?

My passion for sneakers started relatively early, in 2017, when I created my Nike account and started buying the first sneakers. The shoe that made me fall in love with this world was the Nike Presto Off-White.

What’s one moment or trend in the history of sneaker culture that resonates with you?

I certainly like everything about the Jordan world. But I also find the innovation and evolution that Kanye is carrying out with Yeezy interesting.

Please describe how it feels to you when you get and wear a new pair of kicks?

Opening the box of a new pair of sneakers is always thrilling and a really thrilling experience. Lace them, wear them for the first time, take some pictures... it's all part of the unboxing experience.

What are some of your favorite creators/designers or brands and why?

I love the style that Virgil Abloh managed to impress on his creations. Above all, initially "undressing" his creations and reducing everything to minimalism creates a unique and recognizable aesthetic at first glance.

What is one sneaker collaboration that doesn’t exist, but you wish/think should exist?

A collaboration with Apple could be very interesting!

What are some of the current pairs of sneakers in your rotation?

My current sneaker rotation includes Tom Sachs GPS, Yeezy Foam Sand, AJ1 High Taxi, AJ3 Fire Red, and the AM1 Crepe Hemp.

What is your ultimate holy grail sneaker that you have not managed to acquire so far?

I have never been able to buy a Travis Scott Jordan 1... I look forward to the last two releases at the end of the year.
