With the Lunar New Year coming up just around the corner, every single sneaker brand under the sun is getting ready to drop their own CNY-inspired collections. After checking out the Air Jordan 1 Low OG "Year of the Rabbit" just last week, we're now taking a look at New Balance's entry with the aptly-named New Balance Lunar New Year Collection. Featuring a total of eight colorways across four silhouettes, here's everything that we know so far.
Kicking it all off with the 2002R, it comes in three colorways including a white pair, a brown one, and an edition that bears a striking resemblance to the Protection Pack "Rain Cloud." The pack also features a pair of 550s in neutral color schemes, and 574s which are set to make a massive comeback over the next twelve months. To round off the collection, the retro-futuristic 9060 makes an appearance. Hype surrounding this silhouette has been slowly but surely increasing over the past few weeks, so we're pumped to see it in this range of footwear.
All sneakers are crafted from a delectable selection of leather and suede that packs a premium punch. They all come with red accents as a nod to the traditional Chinese color for luck, and come packed in special edition shoeboxes that are made for all the collectors out there.
If you want any of in your rotation then you need to listen up. The New Balance "Lunar New Year" Collection is set to release on January 2nd, just a few days before Chinese New Year begins. Expected to be extremely limited, make sure you keep it locked at Ox Street for your best chance to cop. Let us know which pair you're feeling the most, and while you're here, you might as well check out the New Balance 1906D Protection Pack right here!
