What was the moment you first got drawn to sneakers, and which pair of sneakers triggered your passion?

I remember this like it was yesterday! So ,when I was about 9 or 10 my Koro (granddad) took me and my siblings to Glenfield Mall where they had one of those bungee jump things in the middle for kids. All my siblings were crying to go on that ride, so my Koro said he would pay for us.

I turned and saw a Footlocker in the corner of my eye and asked “Can I just go look in there instead?”. That was the first time I had walked into a sneaker store like this and was mesmerised by all the amazing colours and styles they had. I begged him to buy me a pair of black, white and red suede Air Forces which I was able to finesse from him. I was obsessed with it for the rest of my primary days and wore them untill they fell apart.

What’s one moment or trend in the history of sneaker culture that resonates with you?

Virgil x Jordan. Anything that man touched turned to historic sneaker gold! Beyond happy I was able to snag a steal off my mate for a pair of 4s! On ways to collecting more Off-White! Next pair might be the Black/Grey 5s!

Please describe how it feels to you when you get and wear a new pair of kicks?

The feeling of chucking on a fresh pair of kicks is unmatched!!! A new pair of sneakers can make an old outfit look brand new again.  I love unlacing all of my new pairs finding the right lace style and colours to match the sneakers. Sometimes I can spend hours just redoing laces before I wear them! Gotta make sure it hits just right 🤌

What are some of your favorite creators/designers or brands and why?

I absolutely love Alaeli May! The sneakers she designs just hit every time!! Every shoe she creates has so much detail and flavour yet not overly overwhelming with colour and textures! She creates things with such elegance and cleanliness but also has that twist of still being very street!

What is one sneaker collaboration that doesn’t exist, but you wish/think should exist?

Nike and me!!! I know that’s a massive far fetch, but dreams are dreams and I hope one day I could make my dreams come true! Working with Nike would be such an honour. Otherwise, we need that Miss Fenty x savage x Nike collaboration for some madddd boots!

What are some of the current pairs of sneakers in your rotation?

Currently my rotation is Mocha 1s, Dark Mocha 3s, Olive Travis Scott 6s, Alaeli Mae 14s and my trusty Black leather converse 70s. Otherwise, I live in my Nike slippers!

What is your ultimate holy grail sneaker that you have not managed to acquire so far?

I would definitely have to say the high Dior 1s! That pair of sneakers is sooo soo clean! With it being majority grey with that icey blue sole, I would wear it everyday! But me being a size 5 mens, and it reselling for $26k - unfortunately, I think I’ll pass.

Other than kicks, what are some of your daily essentials or treasured items?

My jewellery I hold very close to me all the time! I’m always wearing a few gold rings my small gold hoops and my little gold chain. My mum pierced my ears before I was one, so I have always loved changing up my jewellery.

But now that I focus more on clothing, my simple pieces of jewellery really elevated the outfits. Can never go wrong with a good pair of sunnies too!
