Paul Wong - Malaysian Sneakerhead Interview

Could you share a bit about your secret origin story? (Tell us a bit about yourself, how did you start loving sneakers, what you do/hobbies etc.)

Hi everyone! I'm Paul Wong, from Malaysia, but I'm currently in Singapore.

I started to get into streetwear and sneakers eight years ago. The most hype sneakers I have now are Nike LDWaffle x Sacai x Clot and New Balance 990V2 X WTAPS. My hobbies are taking photos of my OOTD and also playing Dota2.

What's your current favorite pair of sneakers?

My favorite pair of sneakers is the New Balance 990V2 X WTAPS.

What drew you to this particular pair of sneakers?

I love this sneaker because it was my first "W" in 2021, and I understand that not many people have it, especially in Singapore and Malaysia, which makes it very rare and unique. And no doubt that New Balance 990v2 is very comfortable and fits my daily outfit.

What’s your personal sneaker-collecting philosophy?

The appearance and colorways have to be comfortable as well, and it would be great if there's a story behind the sneakers.

Your dream hype sneaker you wish to acquire but don't have so far.

My dream hype sneakers that I wish to acquire are Nike LD Waffle x Sacai x Fragment Design and Nike Dunk Low 'Michigan State.'

What's your day-to-day style like?

I don't have a specific style, it depends on my mood and what I want to wear or how I wish to style myself on that day. But, it will always stay with Japanese, military, or street styles.
